This route lets you enjoy the Hachimantai area, praised as a natural oasis. Mystical landscapes unfold before your eyes.

There may be instances where one side of the lane will be closed to traffic for roadworks while driving through mountainous areas. Please observe and follow the instructions of the Traffic guard. If there are none, please make sure to follow the instructions on the signs placed at the road. And make sure to stop until the traffic light turns blue, regardless if there are cars or not.

Day 1

A farm that boasts a history, dating back to 1891. Cows, sheep, and other animals are raised with care in an expansive natural setting spanning 3,000 ha. The many attractions include horse riding and the horse tramway.


The lake and dam create an area of great natural beauty. You can enjoy a picnic while admiring the contrast between the beautiful clear blue water and the colorful autumn leaves.


Located amidst magnificent natural surroundings, this hot spring has long been noted for its effects. You can enjoy seven different baths including a box steam bath where only your head is outside the wooden box.


Day 2

Stroll through the forest amidst the grand nature such as virgin beech forest and alpine plants, and experience forest therapy (the effects of forest bathing are scientifically proven).


An observatory located at an altitude of 1,560 m between Akita Prefecture and Iwate Prefecture. Below is the basin of a large river in Akita covered by virgin Maries’ fir trees and beech forests.


You will find alpine plants surrounding the emerald green pond. Trekking trails are also available and you will feel the wonders of nature.


The roadside station offers a wide selection of specialties and souvenirs such as locally produced foods, confections, alcohol, and more. The spinach-flavored soft-serve ice cream from the restaurant is a masterpiece.
