Open only during winter, this restaurant serves grilled oyster in the shell. During a specified time limit, diners can eat their fill of oysters from the Matsushima sea, nurtured by a flow of abundant minerals from the mountains.
Kanrantei means to watch ripples on the water. In the past, this building was used to house the feudal lord and his daughter, and to receive guests. Alcove and partition paintings are drawn in gorgeous, rich colors and have been designated national important cultural properties. Initially called Tsukimi Goten, an "Otsukimi no Kai" (moon-viewing gathering) is held in September when the moon is particularly beautiful.
Enormous cliffs of vertical bluffs standing 80m_150m stretch for more than 3km, presenting a vast and impressive panoramic view. The towering rock face is an imposing figure resembling a folding screen. During seasons of new greenery and autumn colors, it is enveloped in amazing natural beauty.
There are approximately 120 stores including brand name fashions and souvenir shops selling products from all 6 prefectures in Tohoku. The largest Ferris wheel in Tohoku affords a panoramic view of Sendai Port, and visitors can dine on foods such as seafood and Sendai’s local dish, beef tongue. Take advantage of free parking that accommodates around 2,000 vehicles, then relax and enjoy the shopping and dining experience.
At the summit of the park is the statue of the Goddess of Mercy, which serves as a symbol of the city. In spring, the entire mountain is covered in blooming sakura. With a slope car that goes through the tunnel of sakura, it is one of Tohoku's most popular tourist spots.
With the mountain range of Zao as a backdrop, visitors could take a cruise on a house-boat to view the flowers during the sakura festival, or go see the evening illuminations at night. The JR Tohoku Main Line also has routes where the sakura can be seen. Best time to visit: Mid-April to late April

A commercial center central to the daily lives of locals can also be found here, where both tourists and locals get a chance to interact and connect with each other. You can also experience creating soap using marine products, and more.
A park located on top of a slightly elevated hill, where you can see Ishinomaki City all the way to the coast. Japan's famous writers and poets often visit this area, reflecting what they see on writing. Around 400 sakura trees bloom here, providing a truly magnificent and glorious view. Best time to visit: Mid-April to late April
A museum dedicated to the works of Shotaro Ishinomori, the man behind famous works such as "Kamen Rider". Besides an original works exhibit and an original anime screening, there are also attractions where visitors themselves can transform into Kamen Riders, and so much more.
This is a park where one can behold the scenery of Matsushima, a sight that well represents the essence of Japan. In spring, around 260 sakura trees begin to blossom in the plateau, combining with the scenery of Matsushima for a view truly unique to this time of the year. Best time to visit: Mid-April to early May
A buddhist temple with a rich history. Within the grounds is a stone garden created 350 years ago, that permeates a truly relaxing atmosphere. You may also experience creating prayer beads, used by buddhist priests to ward off disasters.
A temple bestowed with safe waters, bountiful fish, and other blessings. The sakura trees here, known as Shiogama Sakura, have 35-50 petal variations, and are valued as a national treasure in Japan. Best time to visit: Early May
Besides the famous Sendai castle ruins that have a temple and a statue of Date Masamune, the Jouzenji road, a refreshing area lined with Zelkova trees, has venues for gourmet food such as beef tongue, cafes, and more. This area also has an outlet park, where you can go shopping.
